About Canine Communication Studies
Canine Communication Studies programs are available to anyone with a desire to learn more about dogs.  Whether aspiring to become a certified Dog Trainer / Behavior Therapist, a professional dog trainer exploring new ideas, a dog enthusiast with a thirst for knowledge, hoping to solve problems or improve your relationship with your canine companion, these courses are for you.

Exams and Accreditation
Because a thorough understanding of the training techniques used in behavior modification is essential to an effective behavior therapist, and a thorough understanding of canine behavior, solving behavior and aggression problems is essential to a good dog trainer, all twenty-four modules must be successfully completed to earn your certification as a professional Dog Trainer / Behavior Therapist. 

·         Upon completion of each module you will be required to complete a written and/or practical exam.  Practical exams can be submitted on VHS or DVD.

·         If you have not earn the required 90% minimum average on any given exam, you will be given the opportunity to re-do the incorrect questions or exercises as often as necessary to earn a passing score.

·         Upon successful completion of each module, you'll earn one credit and one certificate of completion.

·         Successful completion of modules one to twelve will earn a Comprehensive Canine Behavior Certificate.

·         Successful completion of modules thirteen to twenty-four, will earn a Pet Dog Training Certificate.

·         24 credits and successful completion of the final exam are required to earn your certification as a Professional Dog Trainer / Behavior Therapist of Canine Communication Studies.

·         Successful completion of modules one to twenty-four will earn a Canine Behavior Therapist diploma, a Professional Pet Dog Training diploma, your Canine Communication Studies certificate of certification, and certification plaque.

·         With this accreditation you earn the right to put the initials CTB.ccs after your name and will be added to our on-line list of graduates.

Course Syllabus

 

Canine Behavior and Aggression Therapy

Upon successful completion of modules one to twelve, you will have a thorough understanding of canine behavior, you will be well-versed in the use of a wide variety of humane behavior modification techniques to solve both behavior and aggression problems.

 

Professional Pet Dog Training

Upon successful completion of the three modules below, you will be qualified to teach dog training classes and private training.  You will learn all the exercises included in the novice and open levels of obedience trials with the exception of retrieval, jumping and scent discrimination.  This course also includes trick training to teach you how to create behavior and put it on cue.

 

Basic Training

Our goal in puppy class is to create a personality that will survive in today's society by teaching your puppy to think for itself, to make choices and offer desirable behavior without having to be asked.  We teach the following cues and hand signals; come, sit, lie down, stand, stay, sit for greetings, walking on a loose leash and focusing you you when distracted.  We also focus on temperament molding, problem-solving and socialization with humans and canines.  You will learn a variety of techniques for solving various training problems.

 

Intermediate Training

Heeling, Figure 8, Off-Leash Recall & Finish, Distance Sit Stay (1 min), Distance Down Stay (3 min) - You will learn a variety of techniques for solving various training problems.

 

Advanced Training

Off-Leash Heeling & Figure 8, Drop on Recall & Finish, Stand for Examination, Out of Sight Sit Stay (3 min) & Down Stay (5 min) - You will learn a variety of techniques for solving various training problems.
